Join us—March Book Release Prayers

Afternoon, #Crazy4Fiction readers! Please join us and take a moment to give thanks and praise for the books that are releasing this March, as well as the authors who wrote them. The true power of fiction is evident in each of these inspirational novels; we are continually pleased, and blessed, by the stories of those who are impacted by books like these.

Joel C. Rosenberg, Without Warning

In such turbulent times ahead, Lord, I pray that you protect the United States, Israel, and our allies. Please don’t allow anything that I write about in my new novel to come to pass. Grant wisdom to our new president and vice president and their national security team, as well as the courage and foresight to protect us. Thank you that they understand the threat posed by Radical Islam. Help them keep us safe while advancing political, economic, and religious freedom at home and abroad, especially in the epicenter. As they make decisions with everlasting consequences, I also pray they remember you and seek you, Lord. Amen.

Available in bookstores and online.

Dandi Daley Mackall, With Love, Wherever You Are

Father, I hardly know where to begin. Praise! Only you could give me the gift of coming to know my parents when they were young, much younger than I am now. Only you could bring them through the horrors of war and into the knowledge that when we’re weak, you are strong. Only you could give me the words to tell their story. And when I didn’t see how I could finish this book, your Spirit came along beside me, spurring me, one word at a time. (When I’m weak, you are strong.) Thank you, thank you. And now, whatever happens is in your hands. Pshew! What an honor to know others join me in this prayer! Amen.

With Love

Prayer from the #Crazy4Fiction team

Father, I’m so thankful for these talented authors who use the gifts you’ve given them to impact lives through story. I pray that Without Warning and With Love, Wherever You Are entertains readers while encouraging them to live boldly and courageously—to know that they can face any adversity with you by their side.

Join Us in Book Release Prayers *A NEW Monthly Blog Feature

Afternoon, #Crazy4Fiction readers! With February on the horizon, we wanted to take this Sunday to remember the novels, and their authors, that will grace shelves February 1. “Book Release Prayers” will be a standard on our blog, the last Sunday of every month. Please join us and take a moment to give thanks and praise for the novels, and their authors, as we pray for those He will reach through these works of fiction.

Prayer from Candace Calvert, Maybe It’s You

I pray my newest novel entertains, inspires, and touches the hearts of those who, like my troubled heroine, fear God’s grace isn’t for “someone like me.” People who feel damaged, defined—confined—by past mistakes and so need the beautiful freedom promised in accepting a God who knows all our secrets . . . and loves us anyway. Above all, I pray my very first redemption story stirs and spreads forgiveness and compassion, like a pebble into still waters, for all those who need just one more chance. What a blessing that would be.

Maybe Its You

Available in bookstores and online.

Prayer from Cathy Liggett, The Sisters of Sugarcreek

Precious heavenly Father,

You are so good to us! So giving and gracious and all-knowing. When I first started writing about the female characters in Sisters, little did I know how much they’d come to mean to me. How they’d help get me through the scare and challenges that I didn’t even know lay ahead. But You knew! In my days and months with these fictional friends, at moments I enjoyed smiles and chuckles that laid aside my fears. Other times, I was blessed with their comforting reminders that You are always close, always near—sending us friends, (characters!), hope, Your strength—just when we need it most!

Lord, I thank You for the opportunity to share this story, and if it’s Your will, I pray You will use these imaginary sisters in more real ways that I can’t begin to imagine. Ways that only You, as our caring, awesome Creator, can. All the glory be to You, dear Lord!

The Sisters of Sugarcreek

Available in bookstores and online.

Prayer from the #Crazy4Fiction team

I pray these novels, Maybe It’s You and Sisters of Sugarcreek, reach out to those with a hurting, lonely heart. Love and forgiveness, while so commonplace, are recurring themes in both literature and in life for a reason. May these books entertain as well as provide insightful thought to the reader. I am also grateful for these two authors: for their way with words and for their heart for their readers. May they have an opportunity to connect in fellowship over these novels and see the impact of their words in work.

Thank you, readers, for joining us in prayer. Be sure to check back on the blog and our Crazy4Fiction Facebook page throughout the month of February for book giveaways, contests, quizzes, and much more! In the meantime, happy reading!

Prayers for 2015

Morning, readers. Karen Watson, associate publisher of fiction, on the blog today. I wanted to share with you my prayer as we begin this new year together.

“There will be enough.”

That assurance came from my longtime, very wise friend as we shared lunch and life together early last year. And in that moment, it was as if God himself had spoken into my ear and added a comforting squeeze to drive the point home. As 2014 unfolded, it would require muscles of trust and bravery that had grown flabby. But that word had taken root in my heart and I forged ahead. Looking back, I am stunned at how much enough God delivered this year.

Possible with God

Too many people don’t have a wise friend who will sit across the table and speak truth into their ears. The noise of life can make it hard to hear good news. But a great novel can enter that chaos and pull a reader into a quieter space. What a gift to be reminded or to know for the very first time that Your marriage is worth the struggle, or The world is scary, but God is in control, or Love is the power that heals, or God really can forgive you!

At Tyndale Fiction we get to help a fabulous group of writers become that wise, truth-speaking friend. Not in a didactic, formulaic, condescending, or simplistic way.

Ain’t nobody got time for that!

But stories with beautiful craft and honesty, with words of empathy and true-to-life characters that can echo in a heart long after the book is closed.

It is a running inside joke and a truth that I say to my team often:

Publishing is hard.

Kind of like Water runs downhill or Bread falls butter side down. But knowing that publishing is hard is counterbalanced by an equally powerful reality: Well-told story is life-giving. And that’s what keeps me coming back to the office every day. That’s what keeps me and my team reading and editing and looking for new ways to tell people about the books we believe in.

I am looking into 2015 with more hope and enthusiasm and peace than I have had in a long time. I pray the same for you.
